BIOGRAPHY

Lyriel Benameur mezzo soprano holds a Master's degree in Singing from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where she studied with Dr. M. Crider and P. Tukiainen.
Born into a family of volleyball players, she spent her first 18 years playing in championships. She went on to obtain a HND in Cultural Management and Administration and a BA in Human Resources Management, and started working as a coordinator in the performing arts, before devoting herself to opera singing. In 2018, she was admitted to the Mozarteum and awarded the Gianna-Szel scholarship. During her studies, she was chosen for the roles of Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito), Nerone (L'incoronazione di Poppea), and Siébel (Faust). In Germany, she sang Mariana (Das Liebesverbot) with Opera Incognita, Anna (Nabucco) and Sklave (Salome) at the Immling Festival 2023, and Phénice / Elise (Didon) at the Rheinsberg Festival in 2024 under the direction of B. Forck with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin orchestra.
Equally passionate about Lied and Mélodie, she won five prizes at the Concours International de la Mélodie de Gordes, and was invited to give recitals at a number of festivals and opera houses in France (Avignon, Toulon, Nice, Festival des Nuits musicales en Armagnac, Festival vibration(s), etc.). Lyriel has also been a semi-finalist in international competitions such as the Salzburg Mozartwettbewerb (2023) and the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition (2023), with her Duo partner Hugo Peres.
In France, Lyriel has performed the roles of 2. Dame (Die Zauberflöte) at the Théâtre de Tarare (conducted by Q. Hindley), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and Contessa di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Festival des Concerts au Coucher du Soleil (adapted and conducted by C. Diederich). In 2023, she became a laureate of the Fonds Tutti and sang at the O. Messian amphitheatre at the Opéra de Paris and at the Théâtre de l'Athénée. She performed the role of Micaëla in the production Carmen Intime at the Opéra Grand Avignon in 2024. She is laureate of the Britten Pears Young Artists Program 2024-2025 (UK) and the Wigmore Hall French Song Exchange 2025.
